It does not matter who we are and whether we have been brought up in a good Christian home or not, we need to come to terms that we still live in the flesh and we are prone to fall and to be tempted. Is your life out of control? Be encouraged by this woman’s story. She had grown up as a missionary’s kid (MK) or pastor’s kid (PK), yet in her teenage years she stumbled and drifted away from God, but God is good all the time and His grace came over her life.

She was a missionary’s kid and as a teenager she went off the rails. After losing her baby, she set on a ten-year-long path through darkness and bad choices. “I’ve got four kids,” she said. “And they’re the ones that used to pick me up out of my drunken stupor, and try and put me back to bed.”

Her turning point came as she listened to an episode of Focus on the Family, in which a man described his alcoholic father. “That’s when I thought, oh no! This is what my kids are actually seeing.”

At one point she suffered from cancer of the cervix, and after multiple tests the doctors found she had more than 17 cancerous masses under her ribs. In desperation she turned to prayer and asked a Pastor to pray with her.  The surgery took place and to the doctor’s amazement they could not find any cancer in her body.

Having seen so clearly the power of prayer, she’s been back on track since then. “My family would thank you,” she said. “If they were here right now, they’d thank you. Because otherwise, they wouldn’t have a mum.”
