I am sure most of us at some stage in our lives have experienced the joy of seeing at least one little girl twirling and dancing around the place in a tulle, flowy dress. In her heart she imagines being a princess. Little does she know that the reality is that as she grows up she will learn the truth, that she is God’s princess, a princess daughter of the King.
The Bible says, “The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold.” In this story, God our heavenly father and king, reclaimed this woman’s life and made her a princess.
She was only thirteen, when she began to believe there was something wrong with her. Struggling with attraction to her own sex, she felt she was a man trapped in a woman’s body. “It made me just want to withdraw, and isolate myself from people, because I felt like a bit of a freak.”
Although she had been raised a Catholic, she didn’t understand salvation until she was seventeen. She recalls sitting alone in King George Square, when she was approached by a man who’d been told by God to talk to her. The stranger introduced her to the gospel. They prayed together, but as she remember “nothing happened.”
But two years later, at a barbecue, those seeds that had been planted by the stranger started to bloom. A friend started talking to her about Jesus and salvation. “I believed,” she said, because I saw the change in him. He was just different to everybody else, and he had something that I wanted.” It was at this point she gave her life to the Lord and that is where her journey with God began.
Looking back she believes her identity issues resulted from behavioral problems and her relationship with her parents.
“It’s very important that you get involved in a devotional,” she said, “and not just read the word like a novel, but study it.” She encourages us to read the scriptures “And God will give you revelation and understanding,” she said. “And the word of God makes us strong in the spirit.”
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” – 1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
“The royal daughter is all glorious within the palace; Her clothing is woven with gold.” – Psalm 45:13 NKJV
